Just what is TMJ and what are the TMJ symptoms?

Fast forward here to read more about your cure!

TMJ is a disorder that causes extreme pain or even disability to the person who has it.  This article will let us know what makes up the TMJ disorder, and how can we treat the problem in our own home, preventing the costly treatments and medications that may cause even worse side effects.

Symptoms may include:

  • - Pain or tenderness in the face, jaw joint area, neck and shoulders, and in or around the ear when you chew, speak or open your mouth wide
    - Limited ability to open the mouth very wide
    - Jaws that get “stuck” or “lock” in the open- or closed-mouth position
    - Clicking, popping, or grating sounds in the jaw joint when opening or closing the mouth (which may or may not be accompanied by pain)
    - A tired feeling in the face
    - Difficulty chewing or a sudden uncomfortable bite as if the upper and lower teeth are not fitting together properly
    - Swelling on the side of the face

Now, what is TMJ actually?  Each side of our jaw has a joint called temporomandibular joint which connects our skull to our jaw.  In the middle of the skull and the jawbone is a tissue that is similar to the one that we find in our ears.  If this tissue becomes damaged, you experience pain and/or a multitude of jaw related problems.  TMJ is also a consistent inflammation of that temporomandibular joint.

The job of this joint is for both sides to work together as one, so that we will be able to talk, eat and drink easily.  When this joint gets out of alignment and does not work properly, you may feel pain on it or have any number of difficult side effects.

It is obvious that these TMJ symptoms will have negative effects on your health and well being.  These may include:

  • - Lack of sleep
    - Work productivity reduced
    - Severe headaches or migraines
    - Loss of hearing
    - Irritability
    - And more

But, we should be thankful that we can now treat this at home now with this wonderful new program.  You can finally find out which of several types of TMJ you have, and what combination of treatments will be the most effective for you.  Why TMJ is different in men and women!  Also which foods that you are eating that increase your problems and pain.
